A bit of workshop/project background: The workshop was conceived several years back following one of the large annual spill drill exercises in Valdez. PWSRCAC staff observing and evaluating the exercise noted that communities leaders playing along had a challenging time understanding how they fit into the big response picture. Even though a community leader might understand the Incident Command System (ICS) used to manage a spill for example, there are some unique aspects to spill response, especially in Alaska, that make it different from managing a flood or natural disaster event. This will be the 8th time/location that this workshop has been conducted and PWSRCAC is excited to extend an invitation to the Seldovia event.
