Oil Spill Responder Basic Training
Basic Skill, Tactics, Safety and Procedures for Community Based Spill Response
The Seldovia Oil Spill Team is offering a training in oil spill responder basics for team members and anyone interested in oil spill response. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the training will be offered through a series of virtual ZOOM meetings. The meetings will start at 5:30 pm and will take place on April 15th, 16th, 21st, and 22nd.
The 6-hour training will cover the following topics:
· Safety for Spill Responders
· Spill Response Equipment
· Response Tactics
· Geographic Response Strategies (GRS)
· Incident Command System (ICS) for Spill Responders
· SOS Team administrative procedures for Spill Responders
This course does NOT qualify as a Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response
(HAZWOPER) training, but there is some overlap with that type of training. The course is intended for SOS Team responders and anyone interested in becoming a responder.
Participants in this course will need access to a computer and an internet connection fast enough to support the ZOOM virtual meeting service. Otherwise, there are no prerequisites.
